May 9, 2017 -- Ciera Paul, a teacher at ReNEW Cultural Arts Academy, was one of eight New Orleans teachers selected to receive a 2017 'New Orleans Excellence in Teaching Award.' New Schools for New Orleans (NSNO) accepted 90 nominations from schools across the city for educators who go above and beyond with their work in the classroom.
February 17, 2017 -- During NBA All-Star week in New Orleans, several former players visited ReNEW Schaumburg Elementary students during their first week at the temporary Gaudet site. Dikembe Mutombo, Gary Payton, Muggsy Bogues, Bob Lanier and others offered words of encouragement for the students, just one week after a tornado damaged their primary school building in New Orleans East.
January 10, 2017 -- At ReNEW Cultural Arts Academy, students put their multiplication tables to song, while eighth graders use the musical “Hamilton” to study debate. The public charter school’s curriculum is a product of a federal effort to use arts education to boost achievement in the nation’s lowest performing schools. Jeffrey Brown reports. October 19, 2016 -- Folk-rock musician Graham Nash, actress Alfre Woodard and NY Times columnist David Brooks were on hand to help officially launch ReNEW Dolores T. Aaron Academy's Turnaround Arts program. DTA joins ReNEW McDonogh City Park Academy and ReNEW Cultural Arts Academy as the only Turnaround Arts schools in New Orleans.
September 15, 2016 -- ReNEW Accelerated High School and Dolores T. Aaron Academy are taking part in 'Healthy Cities New Orleans', a partnership by Morgan Stanley and Second Harvest Food Bank.
