August 28, 2020 — We want to share an important update from NOLA Public Schools regarding the return of students to ReNEW Schools buildings next month. Today, NOLA Public Schools announced that Pre-K through 4th grade students can begin returning to school in-person in mid-September. Middle school students can begin in-person classes in mid-October.

The plan for students to return to school was always based on meeting certain health data milestones and, as of this week, the city has met and exceeded all of those milestones.

ReNEW will welcome back our our students with the following schedule:

  • 3rd and 4th grade students return Thursday, September 17th,

  •  Pre-K through 2nd grade students return Monday, September 21st

  • Students in our self-contained special education classrooms return Monday, September 21st

NOLA Public Schools will allow us to bring back 5th through 8th grade students using a hybrid schedule of in-person and virtual learning no earlier than October 12.

Given this, our middle school students will begin to join us at school on October 14th for at least one day per week.

We are excited to see all of our students back in classrooms, however, you may still opt for your student to remain in virtual learning.

Please expect a personal phone call from your school within the next few days to discuss and choose an option: whether you want your child to attend school in-person or virtually for the remainder of this quarter and for the second quarter of this school year.

We look forward to talking to you soon.
