New Orleans, LA – This week, the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) released School Performance Scores (SPS) for the 2021-2022 school year, and ReNEW Schools saw strong growth. ReNEW Dolores T. Aaron (DTA), ReNEW Laurel Elementary (Laurel) and ReNEW Schaumburg Elementary (Schaumburg) earned ‘A’ letter grades in the LDOE’s Progress Index, which measures growth year-to-year.
Former ReNEW music teacher and band director David Batiste, Sr. awarded Key to City
New Orleans, LA — New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell honored David Batiste, Sr. with a Key to City in a ceremony Monday, which was also Batiste’s 75th birthday.
Batiste, who served as a music instructor and band leader for ReNEW students for several years, has been a staple in the New Orleans music scene for the past six decades.
ReNEW CEO Tanya Bryant joins city leaders to announce home ownership assistance program for educators
NEW ORLEANS — ReNEW Schools CEO Tanya Bryant joined New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell and other city officials Wednesday to announce the launch of a down payment assistant program for teachers in the Orleans Parish school system. The $1.5 million home ownership program will support early childhood educators, K-12 teachers and school behavioral health professionals.
DTA's Raquel Crader honored as national 'Changemaker'

ReNEW Schools announces name change for SciTech Academy
New Orleans, LA -- ReNEW SciTech Academy, located in the Irish Channel neighborhood of New Orleans, is undergoing a name change that will be familiar to many in the community.
Following the current academic year, SciTech will fully-adopt its traditional name, Laurel Elementary. School officials are also bringing back Laurel’s mascot, Eagles, as well as its original colors, burgundy and gray.
